A Radiant Earth?

When from space they gazed in wonder

at this earth, which is our home,

it seemed peaceful, clothed in beauty,

radiant planet, all alone.

To the moon and back they travelled,

probing God’s celestial sky,

then they splashed down in the ocean,

home again: this was their cry.

Back on earth, midst mankind’s madness,

peace was far from many lands.

Threats and bombs, and wild destruction,

not at all what God had planned.

But there is another viewpoint,

found in ancient prophet’s word,

turn these swords, now into ploughshares

let this voice for peace, be heard.

Seen from space, the earth is peaceful,

home to friends and strangers, all,

Let us end this warring madness,

Listen to Christ’s peaceful call.
